Payam Hosseinian

sound designer and owner of Phsonic

My name is Payam Hosseinian, sound designer and owner of Phsonic. I specialise in sound effects editing and bespoke design, supervising the entire audio post production process for a variety of formats, from idea and script stage, all the way to delivery. I am a graduate of MA Sound Design from the National Film and Television School. Through close collaboration, I create highly detailed cinematic soundtracks for film, TV and games. I am equally happy supervising or working as part of a team.

I have worked with some very talented creatives on a whole range of feature films, TV series and games. What I have learned from my collaborations is that technical expertise is not all you need; creating a unique sonic identity that suits the visual and emotional content of the story is what will make a project powerful, memorable and original. That is why my primary guide has always been storytelling and imagination.

I also have a strong background in acting for radio dramas and theatre, as well as language dubbing and versioning. My interests are sound art and female-lead auteur cinema. I also research the relationship between sound, silence and gender in film. Every day, I experiment and learn how to use sound in a way that involves the audience emotionally, and allows them to connect with the story and the characters on a more intimate level.
