Pouring Water on Troubled oil

It was a joy to help Nariman Masoumi with his great film Pouring Water over Troubled Oil. PWOTO is mainly constructed of black and white still images. It follows Dylan Thomas’s Journey through Iran in 1951. His stay in Abadan, an oil city in southern Iran, is influential to his writing and shapes the biggest part of this film. It was great to work on an experimental film exploring my Iranian roots.

I certainly took this film as an opportunity to create some new haunting soundscapes. Re-recording Mixer Raoul Brand beautifully brought all the elements together.
